WHO benefits from Early Intervention?
While infants and toddlers develop and learn at different paces, children are expected to master various tasks and skills within a specific age range. Jackson Children’s Services is here to help children (ages newborn – 3) who appear to be developing at a slower pace and/or have been diagnosed with a developmental delay. It is important to remember that early diagnosis and treatment can make the difference and help the child achieve success.
Children are not the only ones who benefit from Early Intervention services. The entire family benefits when a child’s needs are addressed.

WHEN should a parent contact Jackson Children’s Services?
THE EARLIER…. THE BETTER
The first three years of life demand more growth, with more speed, than any other time in life. Research has shown that providing additional stimulation to children when they are still very young can eliminate or minimize the need for services as they grow older.
At Jackson we understand that meeting the needs of children during these critical years is important to parents and their families.
HOW can a parent get started?
ANY parent/guardian, professional, or individual who is concerned about a child’s development may contact Jackson Children’s Services Early Intervention Program. At Jackson, we are here to help you and your child. A parent can also make a referral and contact the NYC Early Intervention Program directly by dialing 311.
WHAT else should you know?
All services provided under the Early Intervention Program are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to parents, but health insurance may be accessed for reimbursement of services provided to eligible children and their families. Eligibility can be determined only by state-approved evaluators under contract with the NYC Early Intervention Program and the NYS Department of Health. If a child is found eligible for the Early Intervention Program, all needed services are identified in collaboration with the parent and authorized by the municipality. The NYC Early Intervention Program will arrange for service providers, considering the individual needs of the child and family, to deliver the authorized services.
Unlike Jackson Children’s Services, some childcare settings or community locations require a fee. When services are delivered in childcare settings or community locations that require a fee, the parent is responsible for paying any cost associated with accessing these locations.
At Jackson, helping children is not just a Profession…
It’s a Passion!
